Will small dairy concession lead to more support for the so-called “war on terror”?Posted: October 10, 2015

Now that there seems to be a small concession for NZ dairy exports into North America in the agreement from the TPPA talks, the dangers to our democracy through investor state dispute tribunals and several other threats are coming closer. Ironically, as a twisted sort of ‘thank you’, there is also the possibility that our current government will look to make concessions to the USA in support of its global interests elsewhere, such as the so-called ‘war on terrorism’, or trying to put pressure on China. That would be a double whammy of threat to the vast majority of New Zealanders.
Both the so-called ‘war on terrorism’ and the push for corporate dominance of world trade and global governance are acts of desperation aimed at holding onto an outdated world view actioned by exploitation. By contrast, the world will have a future through multilateral cooperation and a wide application of a fundamental humility about the human specie’s place. Accepting our responsibility for action on climate change and pulling out of the Five Eyes network would be types of forward looking actions.
